Average scores in NAEP writing for Hispanic eighth-grade public school students, by jurisdiction: 2002 and 2007
Findings
- Average scores for Hispanic students in Chicago and Los Angeles increased in 2007 when compared to 2002. The apparent difference in Houston was not statistically significant.
- When compared to large central city schools nationally, average scores in 2007 were higher or comparable for Hispanic students in Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Cleveland, Houston, and New York City, and lower in Los Angeles and San Diego.
