Average scores in NAEP writing for White eighth-grade public school students, by jurisdiction: 2002 and 2007
- Average scores for White students in Los Angeles increased in 2007 when compared to 2002. The apparent differences in Atlanta, Chicago and Houston were not statistically significant.
- When compared to large central city schools nationally, average scores in 2007 were higher or comparable for White students in Atlanta, Austin, Boston, Charlotte, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, and San Diego, and lower in Cleveland.
