Trend in NAEP mathematics average scores for 9-year-old students, by type of school

Findings

  • Compared to 2004, the average mathematics score in 2008 for public school students at age 9 increased by 3 points.
  • The average mathematics score in 2008 for age 9 students in private and Catholic schools increased compared to their average score in 1978.
