Trend in NAEP mathematics average scores for 9-year-old students, by race/ethnicity
Findings
- At age 9, White students had higher average mathematics scores than in all previous assessment years.
- Compared to 1973, scores for 9-year-olds in 2008 were 25 points higher for White students, 34 points higher for Black students, and 32 points higher for Hispanic students.
