Classroom Context: Type of High School Program

 

As part of the 2009 science assessment, twelfth-graders were asked about their high school academic program. The full text of the question, corresponding percentages, and scale scores in each category are below.

A. General
B. Academic/college prep
C. Vocational/technical

Grade 12

Twelfth-graders who reported being in an academic or college-prep high school program (160) had a higher average score in science than students in a general program (140) or a vocational/technical program (132).
