Trend in fourth-grade NAEP mathematics achievement-level performance, by region

Key. Top bar percent at Advanced. Middle bar percent at or above Proficient. Bottom bar percent at or above Basic.

Findings

  • The percentages of students in the Northeast, Midwest, and South regions at or above Basic were higher in 2007 than in 2003 and 2005.
  • The percentages of students in all the regions at or above Proficient were higher in 2007 than in 2003 and 2005.
