Mathematics Age 17 Results

  • Use the tabs to view student performance by various student groups, including gender, race/ethnicity, type of school (public or private), students with disabilities (SD), English language learners (ELL) and grade level
  • Move the cursor over data points to see more detail.
  • View detailed information about average scores for each group by clicking on the group's name within the legend.
  • Use the drop down menu when viewing the performance level or percentile figures to show data for each group.
  • See the data displayed in other chart formats by clicking on the "chart options" button below each figure.
  • Click on the link to the NAEP Data Explorer under each table to conduct a significance test which is used to determine whether the changes or differences between two result numbers are statistically significant.

Find out more about the development of the long-term trend assessments and how to interpret the results, including the years in which specific variables are reported. For example, LTT mathematics results for race/ethnicity are available beginning in 1978.

Nine-year-olds are typically in 4th grade, 13-year-olds are typically in 8th grade, and 17-year-olds are typically in 11th grade. Some students in each age group, however, are in a grade that is below or above the grade that is typical for their age.
