Mathematics top stories: Major findings about students' knowledge of mathematics in 2007.

  • Upward trend in average scores continues in 2007 at both grades 4 and 8.
  • Average scores increased between 2005 and 2007 in 23 jurisdictions at grade 4 and in 26 jurisdictions at grade 8.
  • White, Black, and Hispanic students at grades 4 and 8 scored higher in 2007 than in all previous years.
