- at grade 4, students in Austin and Charlotte scored higher, on average, and students in Chicago, Cleveland, and Los Angeles had lower average scores.
- at grade 8, students in Austin, Charlotte, and San Diego scored higher, on average, while students in Atlanta, Chicago, Cleveland, and Los Angeles had lower average scores.

- at grade 4, students in all participating districts had lower average scores than the score for the nation, except for Austin, where the average score was not significantly different.
- at grade 8, students in all participating districts had lower average scores than the score for the nation.
