A Reporter's Guide to The Nation's Report Card

Welcome to the media center for The Nation's Report Card. Everything you need to report on the latest results of the National Assessment of Educational Progress (NAEP) is in this area.

In this section, you will find the following:

The Downloads and Tools section contains access to a wealth of web-based tools, including the following:

  • Export NAEP Data, a web-based tool that will help you assemble tables and figures from the data presented on this site;
  • NAEP Data Explorer, a powerful database containing data from NAEP assessments; and
  • NAEP Questions Tool, a web-based tool that contains more than 1,600 actual questions, answers, scoring guides, and question-level data from the NAEP assessments.

In-depth information about each subject assessed by NAEP is available on the NAEP website. This site contains assessment-specific information about who took the assessment, how the assessment was developed, and what the assessment measures. Access to a large number of publications related to present and past assessments is also available through the site.
