Average Mathematics Scale Scores for the Nation at Grades 4
and 8

  • The national average mathematics score at grade 4 increased by 3 points from 2003 to 2005 and by 25 points from 1990 to 2005.
  • The national average mathematics score at grade 8 showed a 1-point increase between 2003 and 2005 and was 16 points higher in 2005 than in 1990.
