Average Scale Scores and Achievement-Level Results in Reading for Students With Disabilities

  • Fourth-grade students with disabilities (SD) who could be assessed had a higher average score and a higher percentage at or above Basic in 2005 than in 2003 and 1998.
  • Eighth-grade students with disabilities had a higher average score in 2005 than in 2003, but the apparent increase between 2005 and 1998 was not statistically significant. In addition, the percentage of eighth-graders with disabilities who performed at or above Basic in 2005 was not significantly different from 2003 or 1998.
