Occurrences of prewriting as part of the writing assessment

As part of the 2007 writing assessment, students were given a brochure on prewriting and the opportunity to use space in the test booklet for prewriting activities. The percentages of eighth-graders who used this prewriting activity during the assessment are presented below for all students and by gender.
