Classroom Context: Historical Periods

As part of the 2010 U.S. history assessment, twelfth-graders were asked to indicate the extent to which they studied various periods in United States history throughout their time in high school. The percentage of students who responded in each category are shown below.

Grade 4
Grade 8
Grade 12

More than 90 percent of twelfth-graders reported studying each of the historical periods for at least some of their time in high school.
