Classroom Context: Using Calculators

 

As part of the 2011 mathematics assessment, teachers of fourth-graders were asked about the frequency with which they allowed students to use calculators when taking tests and quizzes. The full text of the question and corresponding data charts and tables are provided below.

B. Sometimes

In 2011, a higher percentage of Hispanic students had teachers who reported never allowing students to use calculators during tests than their peers in other race/ethnicity groups.
