Classroom Context: Civics Classroom Activities

As part of the 2010 civics assessment, fourth-, eighth-, and twelfth-graders were asked about the types of civics activities they performed in school. The figures below provide the percentages of students who responded that they had participated at least monthly in each of the activities shown.

While 95 percent of eighth-graders reported that they took a test or quiz at least monthly, only 34 percent reported taking part in debates or panel discussions with the same frequency.
