In the 2008 arts assessment, students were asked to listen to a rhythmic pattern and then write the notes that would complete the pattern. To get a taste for what students experienced, you can use the tool below to complete a rhythmic pattern. Note that in the assessment, students were given specific guidelines for completing this task. The tool below is only meant to be a representation of the assessment question given to students.
Listen to the rhythmic pattern that students heard by clicking on the arrow on the music player below. After you hear the pattern, position your cursor over notes and rests that you think will make the rhythm sound finished. Drag and drop those notes and rests into the empty boxes labeled "your measure 1" and "your measure 2." Do not copy any of the measures that have already been used in the music.
